Reflections – My year in paintings 2016: part 3

Here are some bits and bobs before I move to part 4 with my landscape studies. While exploring my art direction I toyed with the idea of doing naïve paintings of buildings.  The Chilton Post Office was done as a commission at the end of 2015, and the other two in 2016. Thistles

Hi, I'm back after my hectic time this summer. Now its all relaxing for a while - some painting, designing and a little holiday in Holland at the end of September. Yesterday we returned the printing  press to Oxford Printmakers (after a fab time embossing at Oxford Summer School) and popped in at Waterperry Gardens to photograph thistles for my new watercolour collection. Woolly Thistle – watercolour

The woolly Thistle is complete. Hooray - this is another tick on my list as the the year draws to a close. I have my eye on several other thistle species including the artichoke flower, but thank goodness they won't be flowering for several months  so I have a break. In the meantime I have a cool commission - to produce some slightly stylised / abstract wild flowers which are found locally, for a billboard. This will be happening early in the new year.
