I was lucky enough to spend a whole weekend doing Chinese Life drawing with a Chinese master Qu-lei-lei. By 3pm the first day I was flagging but then I got my second wind and felt as though I could draw forever. On the second day the techniques got wilder and the drawing and painting flowed into one another. Qu-lei-lei at Great Missenden
I signed up to do a weekend course titled Life Painting The Chinese Way. There is no real tradition of Chinese Life painting - it did not exist. However, Qu-lei-lei who is a Chinese artist who studied Western art and applied a Chinese approach. We began with 2 minute drawings in conté or charcoal or both.
