I adore paper - in the way some women adore shoes - (which makes me inexpensive to maintain!)I learnt to make it in 1978 but it was too much like housework so I gave it up and went shopping instead. I have also tried to educate myself about paper and in this series I will share how I did this, where I buy it and which paper I use for what. Indigo paper dyeing
I showed you my indigo dyeing workshop photos. I'm always up for experimenting and since Japanese Mulberry paper has such fantastic wet strength, I decided to try dyeing it. With most dyes, the fabric has to be in the dye for a while to absorb the pigment, but with indigo, it is only dipped long enough to get wet.I started off with batik dyeing, where you draw on the paper with wax then dip it.
