March 28, 2020 by Lin Kerr Leave a Comment

This is for absolute beginners! Because this is a ‘Lockdown Tutorial’, we will try to work with what you have, even if it is the oil paints you inherited from your great-grandmother. Stay at home, stay safe and paint an onion! Materials (scroll down to notes at the end to see how you can use whatever you have in your cupboard, as long as you have oil paints). Top tips for daily drawings, paintings or photos

November 23, 2016 by Lin Kerr 5 Comments

This is the third post in a mini series on daily creativity, which will hopefully inspire you to do something you love in more depth! On the 17th November Marianne, Tessa and I talked about our projects and the first one was about my little 6X6 canvasses. MARIANNE: Marianne has done daily drawing /painting projects on and off for almost 15 years and has lots of beautifully hand bound books (which she made) filled with her artworks. She is an artist, calligrapher, oil painter, maker, baker … [Read more...]

Daily paintings at work – 6 x 6 canvasses

November 3, 2016 by Lin Kerr 4 Comments

I first came across the daily painting artwork as a sort of 'movement' earlier this year and thought 'Yes, this is IT'. I demonstrated a small oil painting at Ardington School of Craft and photographed a few of the stages. To view the planning and a photo of the actual still life, check the previous blog post. I like starting a painting by rubbing the background with ochre (usually - to add warmth) then drawing the objects roughly using a round hogs hair brush #1. This brush won't allow any detail, so no chance to obsess. (If for any reason, it needs to be super-accurate, I'll use a pencil) I rubbed out some … [Read more...]

All my daily paintings – Private View

May 12, 2016 by Lin Kerr Leave a Comment

Scroll down for larger versions. On Monday I'll show the tulips. These have not been shown on my silent auction because I can't sell them in two places at the same time. But I can sell them by email - if the one you like has not already been sold on the exhibition. Some of these will be at Aston Tirrold and some will be at Ardington, so this is a good chance for an overview! These are all oil paintings, £50 unframed and £70 framed. As a special offer on … [Read more...]
