This is the second in a series of workshops where we look at just four values – black, white, light grey and dark grey – using various pencil techniques to create beautiful textures.
Level: Beginner & intermediate. This workshop (ideally) follows on from Notan 1 and introduces more pencil techniques.
However, it is a great workshop for getting to grips with perspective at any stage of your drawing experience so you do not need to have done Notan 1.
Allow about 2 hours per week, but longer on Week 3.
Week 1: An overview of the development of perspective and one-point-perspective.
Week 2: Refining one-point-perspective and ‘masking’ in drawing techniques.
Week 3: Drawing buildings, two-point-perspective and drawing with an eraser.
Week 4: Working with perspective and a suggestion of figures.
All drawings are in pencil on cartridge paper.
How it Works
The Notan workshops can be done in your own time during a five-day period. We work with a weekly pdf and communicate on a shared secret Pinterest board, which is only visible to participants. The Pinterest board is our ‘classroom’. You are invited to introduce yourselves to one another with a photo and a bit about yourself (optional). Then, each Tuesday, for four weeks, you get a pdf e-mail with notes and projects, You need to pin your drawing onto the Pinterest board at any stage, before Sunday night. You can see one another’s work, ‘like’, give and receive comments. It is a warm, friendly virtual workshop.
