The Colour of Landscape – Day 7

October 26, 2020 by Lin Kerr Leave a Comment

This an Instagram ten-day challenge! I am writing these posts to ‘flesh out’ my theme called: The Colour of Landscape

Day 7

I like close-up surface interest. I became very experimental in oils, so in addition to my love of colour and glazing, I added text and collage to my landscapes. Here you can see some maps of the Ridgeway are embedded into the landscape. Thank you Fillingdon Fine Arts for finding a new owner for this painting.

This is the first painting that had text added to it – from an old Chaucer book. The text is The Wife of Bath, and the painting is 90cm x 60cm. I have since decided to reserve collage mostly for life painting and still life.

The Lightning Tree – 60cm x 60cm: a study using equiluminance – where colours vibrate against each other.

I experimented with found patterns, using a roller, sgraffito and impasto.

Milkwood 25cm x 30cm

But, overwhelmed with choices I went back to the drawing board…literally!
