I will be in the Ucare charity tent at Art in Action 2016 as one of their artists, and I am currently designing some tulip cards featuring Ucare’s adopted tulip Tulipa ‘Caresse’. View the first one by clicking on this link.

Working with a pink flower is a bit tricky, because people usually only buy these for little girls or very elderly women! I decided to hot up the pinks and add mauves and lime greens. Luckily hot pink is this summer’s colour!

And then I thought it could also be a good idea to do a field of mauve tulips with just one pink tulip – so that it is could be the ‘Most special tulip’. When you look at tulips against the light, the overlap of the petals gives a dark almond shape, so this is a repeat pattern.
Simple and charming. Love the colours as well.
thanks, Bev
Great
Thank you Jude. It will be interesting to test these on the market! If people like this stylised way of doing flowers I can use it for many more…
