The first Blackthorn blossom

March 3, 2016 by Lin Kerr 1 Comment

The blackthorn tree is the first tree to bear blossoms and so to celebrate the Spring I decided to paint it. I picked some at the side of the road and two days later the blossoms were manky. So I picked some more yesterday and painted it today.

I put it onto Instagram. Now Instagram is a lovely sort of photo album-sharing social medium. You join (free) and can upload photos for others to see. You can tag them if you are looking at themes and follow people if you like their themes. I am tagging my work ‘dailypaintings’ (plus other bits) and making some good Instagram friends, and following sopme landscape gardeners as well as artists. My granddaughter ‘joined me’ to follow puppies and baby animal people as well, and I now I have some followers who put up loads of photos of mice or little dogs!

Anyway, I put it onto Instagram, saying it was available on Silent Auction; shared with Facebook and then after lunch loaded it onto my website. Five minutes later it was snapped up. This was so exciting after feeling the economy for the past few months, but more than anything it is encouraging and is spurring me on. Check all the red dots on my silent Auction page…linkerrdesign.co.uk/silent-auction/

Plums tomorrow? I so love the whiteish blush on the dark mauve skinand am looking forward to the challenge of painting them.

Oh how pretty! I’m not at all surprised it was snapped up so quickly. 🙂
