I think I am crazy to be blogging about this painting at such an early stage, but it’s taking all my headspace and I’m longing to experiment. So if the painting never features on this blog, you’ll know that it didn’t work!
I started off by shopping for a large glass vase after buying some pussy willow.
Then I did the background in a dark burnt umber. I tried a set-up to see if I liked what I could see in my head.
And I did, so tomorrow I need to finish my daily painting which is currently on the tall round table that I need for this. This little bit of theatre must stay undisturbed in my studio for the next while. I hope to begin this painting later tomorrow, working from life.
The photo is useful for planning and I may need it to refer to the lace. I am making up the approach of the painting as I go…
