Part of my 5 year plan (and 2016 is the fifth year) is charting my creative journey to become the artist I want (need) to be.
This year I did a lot of life drawing. In 2014 it was all stylised for Rope of Words; now it is minimalist for the book DANCE, a collaboration with Christopher Ellott.
It began with Chinese life drawing in 2014, then this commission.

This was a large piece – almost 1 meter when box framed. During the year I did more Chinese Life Drawing with Qu-lei-lei and worked on my collaborative book which was printed by October in time for my exhibition in Wantage.
This one is probably one of my favourite drawings. You may detect my love of Rodin’s drawings in her.
Then the book.
The book had seven ‘calligraphic’ drawings and seven poems. Each artwork was 30 x 60 and I did three of each to be able to choose the best – since they are often open to chance – just like lettering is. There are still some available, and they will be exhibited again in February. Here they are in order ending with ‘Circle’ To order the book, click here
And I also did a combined artwork using four of the images.
Next week I will be giving a day of life-drawing at a nearby girls school. The dance girls will pose in leotards and we will explore life drawing in five minute poses, to get the essence of the human body. English students will write poems in response to this workshop and the drawings and poems will be exhibited alongside my works from Dance in February.
