Church Paintings on Exhibition

June 9, 2015 by Lin Kerr 2 Comments

Everyone finished their church artworks in time for these to go on display in the church during the village fair. There wasn’t a lot more to do since the drawing, but the collaged patterns gave the work a good “finish” which is more obvious in real life than in the photos.

The last stage was to collage the tissue the girls printed.

Originally the idea was to collage the church in the rubbed textures and the grass in the monoprinted textures, but this was going to be too ‘busy’; so we kept the monoprinted textures as an option for headstones – an option which only Elizabeth took up..

Hattie said that adding headstones would make her church too crowded and I think she was right! She doesn’t have much foreground and the birds are quite important. They are a red-winged kite, an owl and something that looks rather like a floating cross! I love Hattie’s tree.

And so the church project is finally complete.
