Sketching my Travels 29 – goodbye Perth

May 7, 2015 by Lin Kerr Leave a Comment

This is probably my last drawing on location and it will be back to my usual blog next week – a mixture of art, calligraphy and projects with ‘the inside story’ of materials and techniques. I’ll also reflect on my ‘Sketching my travels’ experience.

I’venever thought of drawing A&A zoo or wildlife park before. The subjects often  sit still long enough to capture a pose.

However in the kangaroo enclosure in Caversham Wildlife Park in Perth, they were resting and none were in classical poses where there was a comfy seat. It was weird because their limbs all looked wrong – event joey was in its mother’s pouch with just a hind leg and a bit of tail sticking out instead of a little face!

i had no idea that koala bears are so large – like a great big overstuffed teddy bear. And they sleep for 20 hours a day. We all lined up to stroke Eric the Koala.
