There is an impossible expanse of blue water, with many varieties of palms. This is one of the four interleading pools, with little bridges, arches and grass.

i sat in a lounger opposite these, with my own quinacridone red and green palms behind me. I’ve given up timing – I’m a slow drawer, because when I draw fast I lose the plot and get sloppy. Mapping the vista in pencil took 25 minutes. I really hope I have time to draw the red and green palms as a study on their own.

There are so many decorative details and to give a feeling of the patterns and palms, I divided the page horizontally for the water expanse, then used a technical pen for the patterns.
I am in Singapore visiting my son and his family, staying on the 18th floor of a condo. The luxurious pool makes apartment life viable, as you meet neighbours, ex-pats, can barbecue and socialise. Our granddaughters aged 8 and 4 swim like little fishes. For the time that I’m away, I am recording my travels in sketches instead of the usual blog. Using an iPad I can’t edit my work other than basic cropping.
Beautiful!
