The Morris Cafe V&A

March 26, 2015 by Lin Kerr 1 Comment

I have never been in such an opulent room! And somehow I had not seen this cafe at the V&A before. (I’d probably tiptoed past because it looked too private). This was at the lunch time when we did our urban sketching in London.

Then after a long time and some lunch I noticed the lettering around the top of the walls. It was a long frieze – small gaps between words, went round the corners, broke words in odd places and ended incongruously in xyz. A kind of homily? Something about the virtue of labour?
