I’ve been blogging about ideas for making your own cards. When its comes to cards for children, the only goal is to delight the child – forget about impressing the parents! It’s always my goal to make the card fairly quickly and painlessly – 30 minutes max. otherwise these cards just won’t happen!
You can upcycle an old card for a 3-year old and punch holes around the edge. use a tapestry needle and tie the thread to the needle and the first hole. They love learning how to sew and the message will go on the back.
Then there is the tricky thing of how to give money in a special way…
Make a little book and instead of inner pages, stitch a £10.00 note using pamphlet binding. This will really delight the child! You can also do other cool things with a tenner. try making a boat, a frog, or as I once did – a fan! I got 6 x £5.00 notes and folded them into concertinas. Then I stitched the ‘fans’ together using thread, with a message from the fan club. They love it!
