It was my birthday last weekend and it was a good occasion to go to Cookery School with friends and family. My daughter Megan and her partner Will make delicious curries so they were the ‘teachers’.
But first, we had to roast and grind the masala spices. Dave and I went to the spice wholesaler – Tahmids, in Oxford and then to Megan’s home to do this. I designed some labels, and here they are. Already to go on the little jars for everyone’s party bags!
The designs are based on whole aniseed, cumin, mustard and coriander seeds for the Panch Poran, bay leaf and mustard seeds, and the coriander leaf. You’ll notice that I don’t lay trips on myself with calligraphy – as it is this is obsessive enough, but I really wanted to bless my guests who were also the cooks!
Here is the menu:
What a great idea. Looks delicious.
i love the way you bring calligraphy into everything – it is sooooo addictive x
