Still on the Valentine theme. The first one is child’s play, the second one is your challenge for the weekend, with the solution on Monday.
Draw a square 5cm x 5cm, with vertical lines to make five ‘fingers’. Draw a semi-circle on top with your compass (radius 2.5cm) Otherwise you can download the template at the end of this post.
Cut out two of these in contrasting colours. . Cut along the ‘fingers and then weave them together. A nice thing to do with a child.
But here is the tricky one – let me know if you ‘got it’ and what the trick was, and as a reward you’ll get a ‘mention’.Use thinnish paper preferably ordinary computer paper weight (80gsm). If your paper is any thinker, you may need to cut a slit about 1mm wide instead of just a ‘cut’.
This time fold the paper in half along the bottom, then draw and cut the same way. The result will look like this:
Now fold it in half again, cut along the fingers and weave them together to make a neat little heart basket to hold a chocolate at your Valentine meal! I have a February birthday and one year I gave everyone yellow and white ready cut templates to weave together. The engineer brother and one or two others managed. I’d love to hear your success stories. Here is a template to donwload.
