Postcards from the Edge – Pretoria

April 10, 2011 by Lin Kerr 1 Comment

The first day was similar to Cape Town working with complementary colours and collage pieces.

After working with complementrary colours, everyone made postcards with the same design as their collages using their water colour swatches and adding a focal point.   We then looked at possible text layouts using cuttings from magazines to suggest the weight of the text that could be used. Below are six potential layouts using the same postcard design.
As we were studying the elementsof art, nexton the agenda was line and texture, still remembering focal points and.a balanced layout.

Tone was used in the pieces of work with pebbles – many still need text to be added.
There is simply not room to include everything – we had a busy two days producing many postcards.

Thank you lovely Pretoria people for your warm welcome and all the lovely touches as well as my book which I will treasure.
